Message:Acting is acting. I'm accustomed (as a theater goer) to seeing roles filled without race expectations. Modern movies seem rushed. The problem often is the talent. Cast who you want but maybe let them have a second or third take to sell the scene in fantasy. Plus, directors and script being used are not worthy of the source.
I agree that certain characters demand stereotype, like Galadriel is fair haired. Sam Jackson as the next Bond? I'd need to be sold on the issue. Hermione Granger not as critical; again the actor needs to act.
As for games...dice have always been multi-colored. Bring back the roll in role-play.
