Many publishing houses and production studios are using Sensitivity Experts to read novels and scripts. The Expert then censors material for possibly offensive content and failure to include diversity in characters.

We may have been blaming writers when it's the producers that added the "Don't Cancel Me" step.

The windfall of an author being paid by media now might result in a negative hit to their career aspirations. Sanitized content might get someone to read more and then pan the work as not being like the film. Or fans who might read a body of work could be repulsed by the adaptation.

Has the pendulum swung fully to one side and will right itself or is it on the verge of going 360 degrees and screwing further down?
