Message:So you cannot sing like Elvis in Tenn? I would argue existing laws for FRAUD covers someone who pretends to have an original Elvis recording. But if someone has AI duplicator sing in an Elvis set of frequency modulators, that should not be a crime. It stifles tech advancement; hurts other industry. As grave as when DeBeers bought GE patent on growing diamonds and shelved the process.
How about living performers? Not just those who impersonate (say in Vegas), but anyone who sounds like Elvis. What defines what Elvis sounds like, since ear canal changes tones. Can I take Laura Branigan to court and win for sounding like Elvis under this law. Aside -- Gloria is a fine song and no she does not sound exactly like Elvis. (Unless millions are to be earned by lawyers.) Nuisance lawsuits take years to resolve.
Once again, pols protecting money interests define our laws. The powers that be want to stifle creativity. They don't give a crap about human rights. Livelihood of artists. They protect money politics.
For all the original Artist relatives that find what they own is now replaced by code, grow up. You were never promised the dead-guy's Rose Garden. The man who made the last buggy-whip made a wonderful one. Just like him, everyone's talents lose value, especially the poet, the playwright, the potter, the cooper, the sculptor, the dentist or a Tuba player. Autotune makes anyone a star, but not in Tenn with the Elvis VOX patch.
I look forward to the day when my Shower VOX-Karaoke, makes me sing like Elvis or Morrison to an obscure Ramone's song. $9.95 upgrade of my Pfister faucet. Not valid in Tenn.
Yours,
IronRed
