The three books side by side, you can see those have never ever been opened. They are flat.
Notice the older books are small and have no borders. Only had 100, 104, 140 pages each for I, II, III. Basically the crappier rpgs look, the more likely you have an original (of anything). Stuff from early days, 1970s, was Xerox quality. Not just Better Games but everyone. Original bound TSR AD&D Players Handbook was something very different.
