D&D Parties get distracted ....

It is what it is.

The party will splinter on the best course and delay themselves.

Either you have to go in farming for gold or whatever and take the Weekly Def Mod or focus on the final battle for maximum rewards. If you try to do both, you are doooooooooooommmmed.

No sane person would touch the deck of many things ... yet ... 99% of D&D players will grind themselves to ashes to gain a level.

There still remains a bit of confusion regarding who rolls what / when?

Most encounters have two objectives to overcome.

Sometimes the "Party" has to over come 1 or both.

Sometimes each Party Member has to over come 1 or both.

Sometimes you only have to attempt it.

Sometimes, If you attempt 1, you get one prize.

Sometimes, if you attempt both, you get two prizes.

Sometimes you can run away. Sometimes not.

That seems the heart of the mechanic. A few more cycles and you'll refine the descriptions enough to remove confusion.
