Message:Why not punch off Doc-Ock's head?
MCU has exhausted the origin stories. What's really left to do with these men in tights? Punch-punch the next godling? Now I want spoof humor or I can not invest the time. Look forward to a Guardians or Thor for wholesome fun. Rest are jingoistic rah-rah, where good guys win a serial strung set of cliffhangers. None as good as Raiders. The Boys, trying to be serious, becomes swiss cheese for plot holes.
Was Thanos supposed to be evil; the anti-natalist in me thinks he was on to something. Half a galaxy left underpopulated seemed a fair bargain for sharing the resources.
Night Sky buries the lead. Anything that hopes to be JJ Abrams' LOST is swinging at a teeball level of plot and problem solving. Abrams Motif has ruined sci-fi as think pieces. Worse when they remake a classic, like Rollerball or Omega Man. Nothing makes sense in these modern sci-fi tales where the whole reality is MacGuffin. Quiet Place? Stupid. Bird Box? Stupid on toast. Wayward Pines, silly and predictable. Characters are angst w/o problem solving skills. Here, roll cloth dice -- how do they feed themselves in any post apocalyptic world of magic monster bad guys? Dark Mirror with mad robot dogs at least has right hopelessness and truth. Episode with virtual reality Star Trek was fun ride.
Not like I've seen any decent drama either.
Mare of Easttown was okay with each episode having a subplot. I also think Aaron Sorkin can still write. Who else? I see maybe one surprisingly good movie a year (out of three hundred wastes of time).
Yours,
IronRed
