Message:Ah! There it is!
I bought two copies -- the 1500 page one (!) on Drive Thru RPG, and then also a print copy I found on Amazon ("Crimson Cutlass Fundamentals: Book One"), because I interact with books in print, very differently than I do with "books" on a computer screen. I keep notes in my books, and carry them around with me.
I watched another video today, I can't remember which one, it was of a play for Crimson Cutlass. And whenever I heard a reference to a Tarot card, I looked it up in Designing Fantasy Scenarios. It tracked pretty closely -- In the video, which took place in a fantasy world where France neighbors Russia, -- it was a foreign Gentleman, 9 Coins, and the mission card pulled Death. I can't remember the main body of the quest; Just the piece about how the character was protected from death. So I am seeing how the Tarot drives the scenario, and how it translates across systems.
I have also been rolling a character as I read through the book, mainly as an exercise. I am a slow reader, though, and not very far into it.
I chose swimmer over ship captain, because I have heard repeatedly how important it is.
Yours,
LionKimbro
