Message:Truly, Crimson Cutlass is pick up and play anytime. Even a map is not required. Visuals help ground the campaign but all can arise as needed.
Cutlass is also a good place to start before Chronicles of the Outlands or the rest. Though the other designs of OSR and two-page may be more useful for running a game quickstart with a group. Cutlass is a beast, but should not be seen as all or nothing. The simplest of play follows from that first selection of Character Trait.
If you want a demo (read -- die bloody), select a time. Often all I need to do is say I'm running Cutlass and others will take notice. But perhaps one-on-one where you can ask questions and not feel awkward is for the best. Roll20 and Skype is my combo for Net.
Again, just let me know.
Else, trust yourself. It's only cumbersome when you make the mechanics perfect and forget the real goal to have fun.
Yours,
IronRed
